As an example of their dedication to craft, on their off season, Orion and his right-hand man, Dominic, traveled to the other side of the world to study a very particular way of bending and shaping metal. This, after having installed stunning copper barrel dormers, scaled turrets, and other unique features.
We’ve had Jenkins Slate Masters do a couple jobs at our home. What must have been one of Orion’s first slate roof installs some years ago is a delight to behold. Recently, he fabricated a custom copper piece for our home. I had the good fortune of having a couple days off to observe his technique and process. It was essentially origami with metal. Enthralling to watch and the result is stunning.”
This is a pleated, copper eyebrow dormer. Each panel from drip edge to drip edge is one piece of copper folded like an accordion. The valley (both sides) is made from one piece of copper. This is the most traditional method for installing radius copper details.

About The Owner
Orion J. Jenkins
Orion Jenkins began his journey in the slate roofing industry at an early age, traveling the world with his father, Joseph C. Jenkins—author of the renowned Slate Roof Bible. These formative experiences, including visits to international slate quarries, helped shape his deep knowledge and passion for the craft.
Orion has attended numerous Slate Roofing World Championships and has both presented and participated in conferences held by the Slate Roofing Contractors Association (SRCA) and the National Slate Association (NSA). He currently serves on the Board of the SRCA and is an active member of its Education Committee, as well as a dedicated member of the NSA.
With decades of hands-on experience in slate and copper work, Orion brings not only technical expertise but also an artistic touch to each project. Committed to excellence, he and his team deliver personalized, professional, and detail-driven service to every client and structure they work on.
